Why "near me" rates vary so much
Search "house cleaning rates per hour near me" and you'll find a different number on almost every page. That's not a trick — hourly cleaning rates genuinely move depending on who's doing the work, what the job involves, and where you are. A quote from an independent cleaner in one part of a city can look nothing like a quote from an agency-supplied cleaner a few streets over, and both can be entirely fair.
There isn't one rate we can hand you, and no honest source can. What we can do is explain what actually drives the number up or down, and how to get a real quote for your own home rather than a generic one from a page trying to sell you a fixed package.
Rates for housemaids, cleaners, nannies, cooks and carers are set between the sponsor and the worker or agency directly — not by us. We're an introduction platform: sponsors search profiles, message a match, and agree everything from there, including the rate. That's true whether you want someone for a single deep clean or a regular weekly booking.
What actually moves your hourly rate
A handful of factors explain most of the spread you'll see between quotes:
- Home size and number of cleaners. A studio and a villa aren't the same job, and some bookings need more than one person to finish in a reasonable time.
- How often you book. A one-time deep clean and a recurring weekly or monthly arrangement are usually priced differently, because the second gives the cleaner or agency a predictable schedule.
- Add-ons. Inside-oven cleaning, AC vents, ironing, inside-cabinet work — anything beyond a standard clean is usually quoted separately.
- Urgency. Needing someone the same day, versus booking a week ahead, can change what's on offer and at what rate.
- Location within the city. Travel time factors into what an independent worker or agency is willing to charge.
- Agency-supplied versus independent. These come with different inclusions by default — see below.
None of these is something we set. They're negotiated between you and the person or agency you contact, which is exactly why two quotes for what sounds like "the same service" can land far apart.
Agency cleaner vs. independent worker — the comparison worth making
This is the distinction that actually explains most of the rate spread, and it's worth understanding before you compare any two numbers.
On our platform, cleaners are listed two ways: workers who register themselves, and workers managed by a licensed agency. We partner only with licensed agencies across Ethiopia and the GCC, but licensing itself is a matter for the agency, not for us — we're an introduction service, not a recruitment agency, and we don't hold or need a recruitment licence to connect a sponsor with a match.
What that means practically:
- Independent workers set their own rate and terms directly with you. There's no agency margin built in, but you're also the one handling any replacement or dispute arrangement directly with them.
- Agency-supplied cleaners usually come with the agency handling vetting, replacement, and sometimes a guarantee — which is often reflected in the rate. What exactly is included varies by agency, so ask.
Either way, worker profiles and the documents uploaded with them — passport, national ID, medical certificate, police clearance, experience letters — are checked before the profile is listed on our platform. Anything beyond that, such as an employment background check or a skills assessment, is the agency's to carry out, not ours.
Cheaper isn't automatically riskier, and more expensive isn't automatically safer — it depends on what's included and who's standing behind the booking. That's a question to ask directly, not assume from the number alone.
Hidden costs to ask about before you book
A quoted hourly rate rarely tells the whole story. Before you agree anything, ask about:
- Minimum hours per booking. Many cleaners and agencies set a minimum session length. This is agreed between you and them directly — ask upfront so the hourly figure isn't misleading.
- Overtime. How extra time beyond the booked hours gets billed is also a direct agreement, not a fixed rule.
- Whether VAT is included. Some quotes are shown inclusive, others aren't. Ask before you compare two numbers side by side.
- Supplies and transport. Does the cleaner bring their own equipment and products, or do you? Is a transport charge added separately? Confirm this before booking, since it changes what the hourly figure is actually covering.
- Tipping. This is discretionary and not a requirement — it's entirely up to you.
None of these are set by us, and no platform can answer them on your behalf. They're worked out between you and whoever you're booking, which is exactly why the same headline rate can mean two different final bills.
How to compare quotes near you
Rather than chasing a single "correct" number, the more useful approach is comparing real quotes for your actual job:
- Search by location and role. Sponsors across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman can search candidates and agencies directly through the app — housemaids, cleaners, nannies, cooks, carers and more.
- Contact more than one match. The first message can be sent the moment you find a listing. How quickly someone replies, and whether a same-day start is possible, is up to that worker or agency — not something any platform can promise.
- Ask the same questions of each one. Minimum hours, what's included, VAT, supplies, and replacement terms if it's an agency.
- Check the profile basics. Experience is listed in bands — no experience, 1–2 years, 3–5 years, 6–10 years, 10+ years — which is a fast way to sort candidates before you even message them.
- Agree the rate and terms directly once you've found the right match, whether the booking is hourly, daily or monthly, live-in or live-out.

FAQ
Is a lower hourly rate always a red flag? Not necessarily. It depends on experience, what's included, and whether you're booking an independent worker or an agency-supplied one. Ask what the rate covers before assuming cheaper means worse.
Do recurring bookings cost less per hour than one-time cleans? Often, but this is agreed directly between you and the worker or agency — there's no fixed discount rate, so ask when you book.
Can I negotiate the rate? Yes — rates aren't fixed by any platform. They're agreed directly between the sponsor and the worker or agency, so there's room to discuss what works for both sides.
Does the platform charge for the cleaning itself? No. We charge for access to search and contact candidates on the app — not for the work itself, which is priced and paid between you and the worker or agency directly. Sponsors can start with a free plan covering limited searches and candidate saves, with paid plans available for wider access. See pricing for what that covers.
Should I hire directly or through an agency? That depends on whether you want the agency to handle vetting and replacement, or you're comfortable managing that yourself.
